hamburg 2004-04-25 -- 7:58 a.m. here's a strange tip: if you're ever at the hamburg train station, go to mcdonald's. in canada, i am the biggest hater of mcd's, but the one here is nice, and (ok, here's the thing), they have free internet. also, they play depeche mode and massive attack. i'm using free internet! crazy. so now i'm a mcd whore. i took the night train from brussels to hamburg and here i am waiting for a direct train to aarhus. can't wait to get home. yesterday was insane. the brussels train station is the most disorganized station EVER. we spent an hour trying to find the airport shuttle and raphael ended up running off barely being able to say goodbye. then i wandered brussels alone, feeling rather lonely since i hadn't been alone at all during the trip. the train station seemed less than safe - there were signs everywhere warning about pickpocets and several older men tried talking to me and asking if i had a husband. the security guards wandered around the station with big scary snarly dogs wearing headgear. crazy. i ended up meeting some nice travellers from the states, though, so i talked to them for a while, which made me feel safer. the guy told me that i MUST go to venice, so maybe i will. anyway, i feel weird using this internet. i feel like i might be sold into white slavery any minute (free internet - must be a catch...), so i'll sign off from a brief interlude in hamburg. choose (sp?) |
